What is Estate Planning?
Estate Planning is a discipline.
There is no "estate planning" body of law. To be an effective estate planner requires knowledge of many different bodies of law, such as property, probate, trusts, incapacity, public benefits, divorce, business, and tax.
The goal of an estate plan is efficiency. Efficiency means minimizing taxes, reducing costs, mitigating in-fighting, and protecting the client's legacy from creditors, predators, and divorce.

Estate planners use a broad range of tools to design an efficient estate plan, such as Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, asset titling, death beneficiary designations, entities (LPs, LLPs, LLCs, Corporations), promissory notes, installment sales, and insurance.
The Law Office of Richard R. Sprague brings together practical experience and broad subject matter expertise to meet estate planning needs.
